Description:
This 3 year project is to build on the work previously accomplished within the last two funding cycles (2021-22 & 2022-23). The initial funding cycle for 2021-22 established the foundation in the form of an enhanced governance construct for SARVAC, as well as the development of a National SAR Operations Concept (NSOC). This project proposes to continue to enhance SARVAC’s capabilities, with a focus on evolving capacity to provide rapid emergency management response with a particular emphasis on building capacity to respond to both large-scale events as well as sustainable responses in small remote and marginalized communities.

Expected Results:
The expected outcomes of this project fall within six planned activities. Activity One is targeted to Operational Readiness, Activity Two encompasses Deployment and Response Capacity and Activity Three focuses on Capacity Building and Continuous Improvement, Activity Four is Program Management, Activity Five surrounds responder Protection and Mental Health and Activity Six is geared towards Community focus and Inclusiveness.

Program Purpose:
The Supporting a Humanitarian Workforce to Respond to COVID-19 and Other Large-Scale Emergencies Program (“the Program”) is a contribution program that will provide funding to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) so that they may build capacity and deploy to respond to COVID-19 and other large-scale emergencies.
