This project will explore how St. Leonard's Society of Canada (SLSC) can better understand how to apply decolonizing and Indigenizing strategies to contribute to advancing the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action to support reconciliation efforts. This is to be accomplished by engaging with consultants and experts to better support and advocate with and for federally sentenced Indigenous peoples through informed strategies and tools.

Expected Results:

The expected results of this project encompass increasing knowledge and awareness on St. Leonard's Society of Canada's (SLSC) and affiliates' historical and current colonial contexts. The project will provide increased knowledge for partners about the role of voluntary sector and how to better support and advocate for promising practices related to options and opportunities for the community integration of federally sentenced Indigenous Peoples. This project aims to implement practical, decolonizing and Indigenizing approaches within SLSC and its affiliates in addition to developing collaborative, cross-sectoral relationships, particularly with Indigenous individuals, communities, and service providers.
