The purpose of this contribution is to provide funding to carry out an in-depth engagement process with governing boards of First Nations self-administered police services in order to inform the co-development of federal legislation on First Nations policing as an essential service and to ensure that the legislation pays due regard to governance frameworks as necessary to the implementation of that legislation.
