Grants and Contributions:
The immediate outcome for this project is the development of a policing needs assessment report, headed by MNP. The report will support Chippewas of Georgina Island's transition out of its existing OFNPA policing model and into either creating its own self-administered police service, joining a regional police service, or to continue receiving policing by OPP. The final report will identify challenges with the current service delivery model and utilize them in the overall design of the policing model options available to Chippewas of Georgina Island. The long-term outcome of the project is that as it transitions out of the OFNPA policing model, it creates a policing service that is more responsive to the needs and cultures of the First Nation and Inuit communities they serve.
To enhance the effectiveness of policing services in First Nation and Inuit communities in terms of cultural relevance and responsiveness to the public safety need of communities.
To support policing services to First Nation and Inuit communities that are professional, dedicated and culturally responsive to the communities they serve.
