Agreement Value:
$410,384.00
Agreement Date:
Mar 20, 2024 - Mar 31, 2025
Description:
The objective of this Agreement is for Public Safety Canada to provide one-time funding to the File Hills First Nations Police Service (FHFNPS) to support expenses related to the new police detachment. As Saskatchewan’s only self-administered police service, FHFNPS provides dedicated and culturally responsive policing to five communities in the File Hills area: Okanese; Peepeekisis; Carry the Kettle; Star Blanket; and Little Black Bear First Nations. Since 2016, the population in all five communities has shown steady growth and calls for service have increased by nearly 50%. FHFNPS is requesting funding to support expenses related to the new police detachment to improve service delivery for its member Nations and promote safer communities.
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:

The one-time costs for the new police detachment will result in improved health and safety conditions for all occupants and contribute towards the provision of dedicated police services in the communities that are professional, dedicated, and culturally responsive.

By enhancing the quality and quantity of File Hills First Nations Police Service’s inventory, officers will have greater access to essential resources necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively. Officers will be better equipped to respond to the increasing volume of calls for service, and support their commitment outlined in FHFNPS’s values and mission statements to ensure safer communities in which they serve.
