Description:
The purpose of this Youth Empowerment Program will target approximately 1,000 youth aged 16-30 at the outset, with a focus on Indigenous, Black and newcomer youth. It is expected that the reach will increase participation as the program becomes established in the community. The main focus will be the development and delivery of an eight-session violence prevention curriculum that is tailored to youth, offered remotely and in-person. The preventative program will be delivered through one-on-one support or in a small group setting. Counselling services will also be provided to youth and their families.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes include positive changes in risk and protective factors for youth at risk of involvement in crimes such as those related to gangs and drugs, the utilization of more effective strategies to prevent and reduce crime, and reduced offending among targeted populations.
