Grants and Contributions:
The expected outcomes of this project will provide an understanding of the nature and impact of emergencies in Canada and indicate what the needs of socially, culturally and economically marginalized groups are, to improve the overall readiness to respond. The project will also enhance The Canadian Red Cross Society's readiness to provide relief to communities against all-hazard emergencies, while also enhancing their ability to effectively respond to the specific needs of marginalized groups. Another outcome of this project is the increase the number of qualified personnel, system and resources in place to response to large-scale emergencies using a whole of community approach to develop, maintain, and improve preparedness, response and recovery for all-hazards risks.
The purpose of this amendment is to increase the agreement value from $52,514,347.00 to $52,587,868.45. This amendment will advance the Canadian Red Cross' preparedness pilot that will support increased readiness and a greater range of civilian response capabilities to support activities during the 2024 event season.
The Supporting a Humanitarian Workforce to Respond to COVID-19 and Other Large-Scale Emergencies Program (“the Program”) is a contribution program that will provide funding to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) so that they may build capacity and deploy to respond to COVID-19 and other large-scale emergencies.
