Grants and Contributions:
St. Leonard’s Society of Canada will increase their knowledge and awareness of the historical and current colonial context to remove barriers and to incorporate better practices for the community integration of federally sentenced Indigenous Peoples. This project will also develop collaborative, cross-sectorial relationships with Indigenous individuals, communities and service providers. Overall, this will help develop recommendations for key stakeholders like Public Safety Canada, Parole Board of Canada and Correction Service of Canada to better support federally sentences Indigenous Peoples.
The purpose of this amendment is to increase the agreement value from $69,150.00 to $74,890.00 and to extend the expiry date of the agreement. The agreement value increased and the expiry date was extended because they will now be able to attend the Canadian Criminal Justice Association’s 2024 congress to present on their Public Safety funded project, as well as recruit a research assistant for the summer of 2024 to enhance their public-facing report and provide support for their congress preparation.
Public Safety Canada's Policy Development Contribution Program (PDCP) supports strategic projects undertaken by the Department's stakeholders that contribute to policy making and improved service delivery, in the areas of public safety and emergency management.
