Grants and Contributions:
Funding the procurement and construction of policing infrastructure upgrades will enhance officer presence and policing services in the communities they serve. The procurement of IT and communications equipment, and police supplies will enable frontline officers to adequately and effectively police their communities. Funded policing services are responsive to the needs and cultures of the First Nation and Inuit communities they serve: the percentage of police officers who have received/completed cultural orientation packages and percentage of communities receiving this funding report that policing services are being delivered in a manner that is respectful to their culture(s). Supporting training and recruitment expenses will enhance frontline officers’ abilities, by the use of new technology, to police the community at night and to better support the community in resolving missing/wandering persons cases, and mental health act apprehensions. The police service will be able to provide additional services that are conducive to their cultures.
This project is a result of a settlement between Canada and the Tri-coalition (UCCM, T3PS, APS) as a response to the tri-coalition's court motion to extend an injunction order which will allow expenditures from April 1, 2024. Delay in signature.
