Description:
Maskwacis Cree Tribal Council will create a "Pathways to Healthy Lifestyles" program that will Focus on holistic health and wellness sessions in all 4 communities. These sessions will include ways to enhance physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness and will be facilitated by a life skills coach, cultural knowledge keeper and health and wellness coach. Topics will include violence prevention, healthy relationships, personal safety, pro-social activities, language, nutrition and culture activities. Additionally, to help support the communities goals to health and help take a certification course in Search and Rescue.

Expected Results:

Immediate Outcomes include community members being empowered to lead healthier culturally enriched lives with improved emotional, physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

Intermediate Outcomes include increased capacity to respond to community safety issues, an alternatives to incarceration and reintegration a Task Force being created and trained in Search and Rescue capable of responding to emergency situations and saving lives.

Long-term outcomes include the enhancement of the relationship between all four communities so all four nations can work together to jointly tackle community challenges and creating a cross nation task force.

The purpose of the contributions is to provide support to Aboriginal organizations (on and off-reserve), Aboriginal governments and municipalities in collaboration with Aboriginal organizations and or communities to develop tailored approaches to community safety, alternatives to incarceration and reintegration of Aboriginal offenders that are responsive to the concerns, priorities and unique circumstances of Aboriginal communities.
