Description:
This project will work together with the three recognized groups of Indigenous peoples in Canada, namely the First Nations, Inuit and Métis, to develop and provide a culturally appropriate Search and Rescue prevention framework. This will help reduce the number, frequency and severity of Search and Rescue incidents within the identified communities.

Expected Results:
The outcomes of this project will adopt principles from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action into future programming and development of a Search and Rescue prevention framework. It will also provide a more informed understanding of the Search and Rescue educational needs of the engaged communities, and help spread awareness of a Search and Rescue prevention messaging. This will overall reduce the frequency, severity and duration of Search and Rescue incidents in Canada and within the engaged communities.
