Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:

This project is meant to fund the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service's infrastructure needs with no funding directly allocated to individual communities.

  • This project supports professional, dedicated, and culturally responsive policing services in First Nation and Inuit communities. Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officers will have greater access to essential provisions and adequate facilities necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively.

  • The workload of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service is dedicated to serving 34 First Nation communities in Northern Ontario. The total on-reserve population served is approximately 22,000 people.

    • Officers will be better equipped to respond to the increasing volume of calls for service and contribute to a sustained reduction of police reported crime over time.
