Expected Results:

This agreement allocates funding to explore self-administered policing options in support of Southern Chiefs’ Organization Inc (SCO) Member Nations throughout Manitoba.

  • The SCO is done in collaboration, and with continuous engagement with the Member Nations it intends to serve. It works to ensure that each community’s needs are met as it relates to their environment, culture, and beliefs.

  • The SCO feasibility study has the overarching objective of developing a professional, dedicated, and culturally responsive policing options for the communities represented by SCO that wish to be served by the proposed policing options.

  • Should the feasibility study be successful in the creation of self-administered policing options, the long-term objective of this agreement is that communities involved will receive dedicated policing options to ensure members of the communities being served feel safe.
