Grants and Contributions:
Funded policing services are responsive to the needs and cultures of the First Nation and Inuit communities they serve:
- Creating and strengthening the community-police bridge network.
- Identifying and addressing gaps in communication processes between police and communities.
- Greater trust and collaboration between police and Indigenous communities, ensuring that culturally appropriate services continue to meet the needs of the populations they serve.
- The establishment of community consultative group boards will promote the delivery of professional, dedicated, and culturally appropriate police services to First Nations and Inuit communities.
- Creating a model of police-community collaboration, measured by the adoption of effective practices in other communities and a reduction in incidents requiring corrective action.
People living in First Nation and Inuit communities feel safe :
- Implement targeted projects that involve key community groups (youth, seniors, leaders) and the police in activities aimed at strengthening communication and mutual understanding.
- Provide ongoing feedback loops to measure the success of each project and adjust as needed.
To enhance the effectiveness of policing services in First Nation and Inuit communities in terms of cultural relevance and responsiveness to the public safety need of communities.
To support policing services to First Nation and Inuit communities that are professional, dedicated and culturally responsive to the communities they serve.
