Grants and Contributions:
The expected outcomes of this deployment are to prevent further health complications through early intervention and consistent medical monitoring; increase awareness of and access to community-based health and support services for evacuees; enhance emotional resilience among individuals and communities affected by the emergency; and support long-term recovery. These outcomes will lead to fewer hospital transfers and reduced strain on professional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and healthcare systems; increased interagency operability, reinforcing Manitoba’s overall emergency preparedness and response framework; and a reduction in the incidence and severity of mental health issues such as anxiety, grief, and trauma-related stress.
The purpose of this amendment is to extend the agreement date to September 11, 2025, and to increase the Public Safety Canada funding amount from $900,967 to $1,487,713.
The Supporting a Humanitarian Workforce (HWF) to Respond to COVID-19 and Other Large-Scale Emergencies program supports non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide assistance to jurisdictions in Canada.
