Grants and Contributions:
The expected outcomes of this project are to increase knowledge and understanding for decision-making in Canada's public safety systems by developing educational programming that explains how individuals vulnerable to victimization—and those likely to receive disclosures—can navigate public safety systems in relation to Red Flag laws. The project also aims to improve intersectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration by working with departments, faculties, and student groups to tailor educational and support offerings to community needs. Additionally, it will build community capacity to support victims, offenders, families, and local officials by educating students on Red Flag laws and equipping them to share this knowledge. The project will also provide recommendations to improve policies and legislation at Mount Royal University based on feedback related to gun violence, support services, and education. Ultimately, this initiative will contribute to a safer, more secure, and more resilient Canadian society by preparing students to carry this knowledge into a diverse workforce and broader communities.
The Policy Development Contribution Program (PDCP) provides contributions to forge greater consensus and cooperation among various levels of government and other stakeholders through policy initiatives and activities.
