Indigenous communities have access to the funding.
This funding will support policing in the 34 communities throughout northern Ontario.
Funded policing services are responsive to the needs and cultures of the First Nation and Inuit communities they serve.
Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) will provide culturally competent policing services specific to the needs of the 34 communities in Northern Ontario.
People living in First Nations and Inuit communities feel safe.
NAPS provides day to day policing to ensure the First Nations communities it serves feels safe.
Project was preapproved to start April 1, 2025, although the agreement was signed November 13, 2025.
To enhance the effectiveness of policing services in First Nation and Inuit communities in terms of cultural relevance and responsiveness to the public safety need of communities.
To support policing services to First Nation and Inuit communities that are professional, dedicated and culturally responsive to the communities they serve.
