Grants and Contributions:
CANTF-5’s immediate goal is to build a resilient response capability by training the team to prepare for regional hazards and respond to heavy urban search and rescue disasters. Over the intermediate term, the team will strengthen foundational skills such as building collapse, advanced search, high-angle rescue, trench collapse rescue, hazardous material response, medical treatment, incident management, and other supporting competencies. In the long term, CANTF-5 will build on previous phases to close identified gaps and advance program management, development, training, and equipment, ensuring full operational readiness and improved interoperability.
The purpose of this amendment is to increase the Public Safety Canada funding amount from $1,548,000.00 to $1,643,800.00.
Heavy Urban Search and Rescue (HUSAR) is the most technically specialized form of USAR. HUSAR Task Forces are interdisciplinary teams comprised of specialists from across the emergency response spectrum. Capabilities include search and rescue, communications, logistics, emergency medical assistance, technical and canine search, and structural assessment. The HUSAR program supports Canada's Heavy Urban Search and Rescue capacity by strengthening the abilities of six urban search and rescue Task Forces across Canada.
