Agreement Value:
$91,588.00
Agreement Date:
Oct 6, 2025 - Mar 31, 2027
Description:
The project will create and disseminate print and digital resources, deliver workshops, and offer individualized support to at-risk individuals to share information about protections granted under “Red Flag” laws. It will ensure that individuals from high-risk groups—including victims of gender-based and intimate partner violence, those experiencing mental health crises, Indigenous peoples, and residents of rural and underserved communities—receive accessible, accurate information on how these laws operate and how to apply them in real-world contexts.
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:
The project aims to document and evaluate its community-based delivery model, outreach strategies, and participant feedback to develop innovative approaches and best practices for serving rural and underserved communities. Intermediate outcomes include increasing public education and confidence in Canada’s criminal justice and emergency management systems through accessible, plain-language education on Red Flag laws. The project will also build community capacity by training organizations, service providers, and local stakeholders to apply these protections effectively. Ultimately, it seeks to create a safer, more secure, and resilient Canada by empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to prevent firearm-related harm.
