Agreement Date:
Oct 8, 2025 - Mar 31, 2027
Description:
The project will equip survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) with the knowledge and tools to reduce risk, understand their legal rights, and access protective measures. It aims to enhance access to supports for GBV survivors and promote not only their personal safety but also the safety of the broader community. In partnership with legal organizations and survivors, the project will co-develop plain-language, trauma-informed, Ontario-specific educational materials and resources.
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:
The project’s immediate outcomes focus on strengthening knowledge and collaboration within Canada’s public safety and emergency management systems. Survivors and service providers will gain a clearer understanding of Red Flag Laws through plain-language legal education tools and training sessions. Intermediate outcomes include survivor-led feedback and evaluation findings that inform policy and legislative improvements. Public education initiatives will make legal tools more accessible and empower communities to recognize early warning signs, fostering confidence in Canada’s justice and emergency systems. Ultimately, the project aims to create a safer, more secure, and resilient Canadian society by empowering survivors, educating communities, and reinforcing service delivery systems.
