The overall objective of this project is to increase safety for survivors of violence. By mobilizing knowledge about Red Flag laws among both survivors and the wider public, we aim to ensure communities understand the different protective orders available, how to apply for emergency orders, and other strategies to help prevent firearm-related deaths.

Expected Results:

The project’s immediate outcomes focus on increasing knowledge and understanding within Canada’s public safety systems by providing clear guidance and educational workshops for both the public and service providers. It will strengthen intersectoral collaboration through targeted training for cross-sector partners, fostering stronger relationships and shared goals. Intermediate outcomes include boosting public confidence in Canada’s criminal justice and emergency systems by presenting accessible options and demonstrating ongoing improvements. Ultimately, these efforts aim to create a safer, more secure, and resilient Canadian society by equipping survivors and the public with the knowledge and resources needed to access safety supports whenever required.
