Description:
The purpose of this contribution is to supports racialized youth aged 16 to 19 in Toronto’s Rexdale neighbourhood who may be at risk of getting involved in violence or gangs. The project offers training to help youth get jobs, make good decisions, and build life skills. It also includes peer mentoring and a Model United Nations (UN) conference where youth can talk about community safety and crime prevention. Up to 140 youth will participate across four cohorts.

Expected Results:
Most participants are expected to finish the program, gain confidence, and find jobs. Some will return as mentors to help others. The project is run in partnership with Rexdale Community Health Centre to make sure the support is culturally appropriate and meets local needs. The goal is to help youth stay safe, build strong community connections, and reduce crime in Rexdale. A final report and youth-led stories will be shared publicly to help other communities learn from the project.
