Description:
The City of Orillia will complete an assessment, to develop community-based prevention and intervention strategies, while also delivering in-house youth programming to provide safe spaces and alternatives for youth rather than engaging in gangs and street activities as part of their prevention/intervention strategy.   The objective of the multi-year prevention/intervention project is to increase the knowledge of the nature and scope of challenges to tackle this issue, while decreasing gun and gang activity, and fostering a long-term sustainable prevention/intervention program for the City of Orillia.

Short-Term Outcomes:  Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities have funding for prevention and intervention initiatives to address and respond to gun and gang violence. Medium-Term Outcomes:  Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities implement informed prevention and intervention initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence. Long-Term Outcomes:  Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities are equipped to address gun and gang violence through intervention and prevention initiatives.
