Short-Term Outcomes:
• Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities have funding for prevention and intervention initiatives to address and respond to gun and gang violence: The City of Stratford receives the funding from the BSCF and begins distributing the funding to key partners to develop or expand programming.
Medium-Term Outcomes:
• Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities implement informed prevention and intervention initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence: The City of Stratford will coordinate potential programming developed and begins implementing the programming within the service area. Following the results of the environmental scan, youth(s) in the area will begin to feel a better sense of community belonging, positive socialization with peers, and have access to entertainment services in line with their interests and desires.
Long-Term Outcomes:
• Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities are equipped to address gun and gang violence through intervention and prevention initiatives: Community partners and municipalities are equipped to address emerging issues relating to guns and gangs, specifically, with regards to the youth population; Programs will be maintained following the end of BSCF; A wider community focus on engaging youth in appropriate, accessible, and affordable programming; A shift within the population to prioritize youth wellness and have more education about the warning signs of risk in their communities.
The purpose of this amendment is to extend the agreement date to March 31, 2027. There is no change to Public Safety Canada funding.
The program purpose is to support Municipalities and Indigenous governments in their efforts to address gun and gang prevalence by providing a determined funding allocation to put in place community led projects to combat gun and gang violence and address knowledge gaps concerning the impacts of interventions in gun and gang violence.
