Description:
Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada Contribution Program (SARVAC) will provide a national framework for Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) Volunteers; encouraging consistent protocols and procedures and portability of skills and resources across GSAR volunteer associations and providing for local delivery of prevention messaging.

Expected Results:

Immediate Outcomes
- Bring 13 jurisdictions, 300 teams and 9000 volunteers under one umbrella of the National SAR Program, increasing program management and efficiency.
- Increased awareness of individual responsibility for safety through prevention education.
- Forum for exchanging and sharing best practices, policies and protocols across jurisdictions.

Intermediate Outcomes
- Ability to standardize procedures and protocols in key areas such as training, inventory management and reporting requirement to provide interoperability and portability of volunteer resources, and increased safety practices for GSAR volunteers.

Long Term Outcomes
- Awareness and outreach about SAR incidents, how to alert the SAR System and survival tips will change behavior of the general public before and during SAR incidents leading to increased survivability.

The Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada Contribution Program (SARVAC) provides organizational and functional funding to the national association for the purpose of improving Ground Search and Rescue coordination, consistency and standardization.
