Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:

The initiative will help address serious and organized crime by enhancing victim safety, reducing immediate risks of violence in extortion cases, and increasing community awareness and confidence in police, particularly among disproportionately impacted business communities. It improves enforcement effectiveness through stronger intelligence‑led interventions, reduced repeat victimization, and increased collaboration and trust between Peel Regional Police and affected communities, leading to earlier reporting and intervention. Ultimately, these efforts strengthen capacity to disrupt and dismantle organized criminal networks responsible for extortion, reduce extortion‑related violence, and contribute to safer, more resilient communities across Canada.
