Grants and Contributions:
This project reimburses the City of Ottawa for eligible Nation’s Capital–specific policing costs so it has the personnel, equipment, and services needed to manage extraordinary events. Federal support enables the City to plan and deliver effective security operations—integrating Gender-based analysis plus (GBA+) considerations—so policing measures are responsive to diverse community needs.
Project was preapproved to start on April 1, 2024, although the agreement was signed on March 30, 2026.
The Nation's Capital Extraordinary Policing Costs Program enables the City of Ottawa to seek financial assistance from the Government of Canada for eligible extraordinary, reasonable and justifiable policing costs incurred in relation to policing duties specific to the Nation's Capital.
