Description:

This project will allow community youth to reconnect to their cultural teachings, provide skills that will build their sense of self, as well as provide awareness sessions on the risks of gang life. As a result of this project, the community expects a reduction in gang entrance and violence.

Short-term Expected Results: Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities have funding for prevention and intervention initiatives to address and respond to gun and gang violence.
- community has prevention and intervention initiatives identified to reduce gun & gang violence.

Medium-Term Expected Results: Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities implement informed prevention and intervention initiatives to respond to gun and gang violence.
- Identified initiatives enable the community to reduce entrance into gangs and provide youth counselling and opportunities to learn about their cultural roots.

Long-Term Expected Results: Identified municipalities and Indigenous communities are equipped to address gun and gang violence through intervention and prevention initiatives.
- The community can sustain their prevention and intervention activities at the end of the BSCF funding.
- Decrease in rates of firearms offences within the community.
- Decrease in rates of homicide and violent incidents from gangs in the community.
