Grants and Contributions:
The project is expected to increase engagement, safety, and stabilization for justice-involved Black youth and young adults, as well as for Black victims and families impacted by violence and criminalization. Through outreach, peer-based engagement, and early assessment, participants will establish trust based relationships with service providers and gain access to culturally responsive supports. Tiered interventions addressing traumatic stress and intergenerational trauma will contribute to improved stabilization of trauma-related symptoms that often drive conflict, justice involvement, and exposure to violence. Participants will demonstrate increased understanding of probation, parole, and conditional release requirements, while victims and families will have improved access to victim assistance, advocacy, and supportive services. Capacity-building activities will strengthen frontline and partner responses to Black individuals as both justice-involved persons and victims of harm.
The Grants and Contributions Program to Voluntary Organizations (GCP VO) supports the development of public safety policies and delivery of services by providing funding to voluntary organizations to maintain a national structure and cover core operating expenses.
