Agreement Number:

Agreement Value:
$490,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jul 15, 2026 - Mar 31, 2027
Description:
Black Professionals Canada (BPC) proposes EmpowerED Futures, a 12-month national initiative designed to address the systemic inequities that contribute to the overrepresentation of Black Canadians in the criminal justice system and the barriers to social and economic participation faced by Black youth and offenders.
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:

The project will empower Black youth and support the successful reintegration of Black offenders through awareness programming, mentorship, skills development, and access to essential services. Activities delivered in schools and community settings will increase participants’ understanding of systemic barriers and pathways to success, while mentorship opportunities will connect youth with positive role models. For individuals involved in the justice system, the project will provide personalized reintegration planning, connections to housing, mental health, employment, and addiction supports, job-readiness training, and culturally relevant wellness services. Together, these activities aim to strengthen resilience, improve employment prospects, enhance community connections, and support long-term positive outcomes.
