Description:
The project delivers Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and intensive mentorship supports for justice‑involved youth and emerging adults aged 12–25 in Toronto, including those in custody, on probation or bail, and exposed to retaliatory violence. Through culturally responsive therapy, mentorship, professional training for justice stakeholders, and community‑based diversion initiatives, the project promotes healing, accountability, reintegration, and community safety.

Expected Results:
The project uses Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help youth affected by violence and trauma develop healthier coping and life skills. Participants will improve their emotional regulation, learn to manage distress and reduce impulsive or harmful behaviours, and strengthen communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills. Mindfulness and grounding techniques will help youth increase self-awareness, stay present, and better manage trauma-related responses. Through a structured, skills-based approach with consistent support and coaching, the program aims to build resilience, stability, and positive social connections while reducing risk behaviours and improving overall well-being.
