Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Friendship Centre proposes to establish a bridge program that will have a full-time Aboriginal Community Liaison Worker plus a half-time Elder/Spiritual Advisor who will connect with offenders while they are in custody to develop viable and culturally sensitive release plans and continue to work with offenders upon release from custody.

The expected outcomes from the Returning Home in a Good Way project include the development of a collaborative case management model; establishment of cultural programming; enhanced offender capacity to manage life’s challenges; successful offender reintegration; decreased rates of recidivism among Indigenous offenders; and enhanced community capacity to address the needs of Indigenous offenders.
