Grants and Contributions:
The expected outcomes from the Ile a La Crosse: Capacity & Readiness Project are Increased community engagement and ownership of implementing and sustaining initiatives and programming to prevent crime, victimization and support healing; Improved engagement activities with community members which celebrate Metis culture and knowledge transfer; Increased levels of community participation as community member’s buy-in to the safety plan; Increased awareness and buy-in on safety issues impacting Ile La Crosse community members; Intervention and prevention activities that support safety knowledge development through delivery of a symposium which provides guidance on improving personal and community safety; Increase awareness and buy-in on safety issues impacting Ile a La Crosse community members; Increased knowledge and transparency on safety and wellness issues affecting Ile a La Crosse; and Increased interagency collaboration amongst community programs, municipal government and the Safety Committee.
The purpose of the contributions is to provide support to Aboriginal organizations (on and off-reserve), Aboriginal governments and municipalities in collaboration with Aboriginal organizations and or communities to develop tailored approaches to community safety, alternatives to incarceration and reintegration of Aboriginal offenders that are responsive to the concerns, priorities and unique circumstances of Aboriginal communities.
