Description:
The purpose of this contribution is to provide funding for Gang Violence Reduction Strategy featuring initiatives which are based in evidence and have been proven either in Saskatchewan or other jurisdictions. The proposed initiatives in the gun and gang strategy will address prevention, intervention, and suppression as suppression alone (e.g. arrests, prosecutions, and incarceration) has not been successful in delivering lasting change. The proposed initiatives will provide reduced violent crime, make communities safer, reduce demand on the justice system, ensure value for money, and make Government more sustainable.
