Description:
Prince Rupert is situated adjacent to a deep-water harbour. During a tsunami, extreme high and low water events may occur, resulting in potential loss of life and serious impacts to critical infrastructure. The proposed project will analyze data specific to the geography of the region to determine the potential levels of inundation and tidal velocities during a high water event in the Prince Rupert harbour. Depending on the nature of the tsunami, the harbour may be susceptible to run up flooding and stacking before an energetic drainage of the basin. The project findings will support the detail in the Risk Assessment Information Template (RAIT) which will assist all levels of government in making more informed decisions.
