Agreement Value:
$500,000.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 8, 2019 - Mar 31, 2021
Description:
The main objective of this project is to provide SAR responders, emergency services, public educators, policy makers and stakeholders the opportunity to meet in one location over 4 day period to discuss issues, opportunities and foster professional relationships. SARVAC would like to offer SAR partners the opportunity to have closed door discussions at pre-conference meetings, take part in a hands-on training day, chat with equipment representatives at the tradeshow exhibit, and participate in information sessions which include prevention, case studies, technology, vulnerable persons, mental health, SAR policy, hazards, and much more. The conference will provide communication in both official languages. Simultaneous interpretation will also be available when the conference is held in locations of predominantly French speaking regions of Quebec, New Brunswick and Ottawa. This conference will be collaborative in format, including all SAR - not just GSAR.
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:

An immediate outcome related directly to this project will be when SAR members contact us to state "what an amazing SARSCENE this year- where will next years be ?". That's the first sign of a successful event and allows opportunities for SAR partners, responders, policy makers, educators and volunteers alike to contribute to and participate in a conference shaped just for them. The conference will provide a network for SAR communities to a share experiences, knowledge, tools, services, and best practices. An annual event such as this for SAR can increase moral. belonging and encourage growth in the participants own SAR units, as they see the benefit of multiple SAR practitioners, both paid and volunteer, working together for a common purpose. The long term outcome of this project will be the development of a successful conference model to be used annually. The conference would be utilized by the SAR community and provide a grassroots and collaborative perspective, moving forward in the future.
