Description:
The Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) has a vast coast line with many communities dotting the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.  Climate Change has began to alter lives of Nova Scotia residents.  This project for mitigation planning will allow the MODG to make forward looking decisions for placing of infrastructure, economic development, housing, planning and development, emergency management, etc.  The goal is to ensure planning and sound decision making to prevent as many losses as possible including life, property, and monetary.  To take what the MODG learned from the Risk Assessment Exercises and the Flood Mapping and turn that into a plan moving forward to better position the MODG for accurate, forward thinking, and informed decision making to mitigate challenges in the near and distant future

The NDMP fills a critical gap in Canada's ability to effectively mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from, flood-related events by building a body of knowledge on flood risks in Canada, and investing in foundational flood mitigation activities.
