Description:
Through a community mapping exercise of existing resources a redefined HUB structure will be better able to respond to youth and families issues in Fort Albany. The goals of the project include: Identifying and addressing some of the barriers affecting the successful implementation of the HUB; Providing training and learning opportunities; Developing and strengthening working relationships and Building capacity and developing tools, resources, and best practices for Hub implementation and delivery.

The expected outcomes from this project include: Increased/improved communication between community service providers and HUB; Increased community resilience and strategies to address community wellness; Creation of/improved broader community engagement with activities and knowledge transfer; Strategies developed to address service gaps; communication protocols that ensure more efficient service delivery; Improved access to community services, resources and systems of support; Stronger connections between community members and both formal and informal supports; Increased level of community participation as community member’s support the Community Safety Plan; and Increased horizontal interagency collaboration amongst community programs, leadership, community members and the HUB.

The purpose of the contributions is to provide support to Aboriginal organizations (on and off-reserve), Aboriginal governments and municipalities in collaboration with Aboriginal organizations and or communities to develop tailored approaches to community safety, alternatives to incarceration and reintegration of Aboriginal offenders that are responsive to the concerns, priorities and unique circumstances of Aboriginal communities.
