Description:
The proponent is near completion of risk assessments of approximately fifteen dams in Nova Scotia. The intention is to conduct risk assessments of a additional 7 dams and orphan dams. Determine communities at higher risk of flooding due to being downstream of high risk dam or WCS, as failure of these structures would have significant impact to public safety, public and private infrastructure, farmland, essential services, and municipal water supplies, as well as water quality, wildlife and fish habitat.

Expected Results:

1) Identify which structures are of the highest risk by assessing where they are in their lifespan, indicating if they should be replaced, or allowing proper impact planning to be done.

2) Clarify ownership of each dam/ WCS, redesign Inflow Design Flood, develop maintenance manuals.
