Description:
The purpose of project is to support the current agreement Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service – Upgrades to Radio Communications Systems by adding the personnel required for the operation of the radio dispatch system as agreed to by Public Safety Canada, the province of Ontario, and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Funding for the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, whereby the province of Ontario and Public Safety Canada made financial commitments to NAPS outside of the trilateral funding agreement for the police service operations, as part of the renewal of the NAPS policing agreement in 2018.

Expected Results:
The radio system will enhance officer safety by providing a reliable means of communication. As such, the project will contribute to the sustained reduction of police reported crime in First Nations communities by providing dispatch support to funded officers whose workload is dedicated to the NAPS First Nations communities.
