Description:
Canadian Families and Corrections Network (CFCN) is a national organization working to build safer communities by assisting families affected by criminal behavior, incarceration and community reintegration. The organization’s objectives are to develop training programs that address issues faced by affected families, establish family support programs, develop educational programs for the general public, and conduct research on ways of assisting affected families. CFCN’s target population is families (children, youth, adults) of those at all stages (from pre-sentencing to reintegration) of the judicial process, as well as families of those wrongly convicted.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes following the provision of funding under the GP to NVOs include the following:

Immediate Outcomes
• Increased knowledge and understanding for decision-making in Canada’s criminal justice and corrections systems.
• Shared knowledge and awareness leading to enhanced delivery of services, such as dissemination of information.
• Improved intersectoral/interdisciplinary collaboration and delivery of services.

Intermediate Outcomes
• Contribution to national policy dialogue on matters related to criminal justice.
• Increased capacity of the organization to fulfill its mandate.
• Increased community capacity to work with victims, offenders, families, and local officials such as police and emergency first responders.

Long Term Outcome
• A safer, secure and more resilient Canadian society.
