For relevancy, volunteer representatives from northern regions will participate & learn what it takes to be SARSmart. It will be recorded, incorporating the education & interviews of participants sharing their experiences, new knowledge & relatability to their lives. Once completed, community outreach will occur on many platforms.
Organization:

Expected Results:

Identify, develop and deliver topics to create safer boating behaviours, save lives and reduce the need for SAR calls in northern communities. For adults, this will be achieved through community and member participation in SARSmart Bootcamp and sharing with others first-hand experiences highlighting cold water safety, wearing a lifejacket and teaching self-rescue techniques. For youth, this objective will be enhanced through the expansion of the OLP lifejacket delivery and education program. Medium term: Enhanced knowledge across the North about being SARSmart, with the resulting outcome of the reduction and severity of SAR incidents. Sustainability and a more complete sharing of knowledge and techniques will be achieved through the delivery of workshops in northern communities.
