The purpose of this project is to establish a First Nation-based volunteer Search and Rescue (SAR) program. This is a Joint Proposal to serve the Riding Mountain National Park area, and the Treaty 2 area of south western and central Manitoba

To have the human resources in place, along with a governance and oversight structure, to undertake the recruitment and to begin training at least 7 volunteers from local First Nation to become certified and capable SAR responders. Medium term: To have at least 7 persons trained and certified each fiscal year, in Search and Rescue, establishing a pool of volunteers available for missions and as backups/relief.
