Description:
The purpose of this project is to address current gaps and the lack of standardization in SAR information gathering, reporting, governance and management within the Nunavik region of Northern Québec. It will do this by creating an efficient, effective and consistent data management system to collect, standardize and aggregate SAR data throughout the vast territory of Nunavik. It will also undertake a primary research on the current state of SAR operations in the region.

Expected Results:

Increasing interest, focus and public awareness of SAR operations throughout Nunavik; - Engagement of SAR partners and volunteers data research and collection; and - Engagement and consultation of SAR partners, volunteers and citizens in GSAR study. Establishment of KRG database; -Standardization of all SAR incident reporting in Nunavik; -Establishment and training of Search Masters in each community to ensure governance, compliance and sustainability of incident reporting/data management system; - Training of SAR reporters in the New incident reporting protocols in each of the 14 Nunavik communities and within all SAR organizations; - Increase knowledge of the state of GSAR in Nunavik, including outcomes, trends, clusters, etc; - Improved SAR decision-making and resources allocation based on historic context and reliable data. Increase integrity in the national SAR data collection.
