Description:
This project will develop Manitoba’s approach to the accreditation and certification (A&C) of GSAR training, programs and teams to achieve synergy with SARVAC efforts to build the national SAR Accreditation and Certification Program (ACP) model.

Expected Results:

Initial proof of concept for a provincial GSAR A&C approach that aligns with national efforts. Validated GSAR program A&C policies for review by key stakeholders and approval by appropriate authorities for implementation. Framework for expanding GSAR program to First Nations communities in Manitoba for presentation to indigenous leaders to build on the success of the Western Tribal Council GSAR program while ensuring inclusion of First Nations perspectives in advancement of the provincial GSAR program including A&C. Initial concept for expanding GSAR training to include All-Hazards IMT and emergency management response operations to leverage the GSAR network for disaster response.
