Description:
This project is the revival of CANTF-5 and the strategy will be to target training to achieve greater depth in ranks to add a support cadre to the existing trained rescuers. During this phase CANTF-5 will grow the K-9 capability by working on building partnerships and to develop MOU's and achieve automatic aid agreements within the response community. The project will continue to build CANTF-5 cache to support HUSAR operations and medial support.

Expected Results:

The intended outcomes are to: focus training on core fundamental HUSAR elements of structural collapse, technical search, high angle, trench, confined space, advanced search, ICS training, K-9, Hazmat and medical; and the purchase of additional support infrastructure to provide for multi-casualty patient care and provide advance care to patients in the field. The long term outcomes are annual  equipment maintenance and readiness checks; and monitoring and completing the required certifications to maintain a team that is ready and able to respond as a team or to support the national program.

The HUSAR Program aims to maintain the HUSAR capabilities of Canadian HUSAR Task Forces in Vancouver (British Columbia); Calgary (Alberta); the Province of Manitoba; and Toronto (Ontario). The Program also aims to develop HUSAR capacity and capability in the underserved regions of Montreal (Quebec) and Halifax (Nova Scotia).
