Grants and Contributions:
The immediate expected outcome of the project is to support relief to those affected by the Alberta 2023 wildfires by collaborating with local authorities on the provision of stocks and supplies such as clean-up kits, and assisting with referrals to community support groups. The medium-term outcome is to help local authorities with providing mental health expertise, to help communities reinforce community structures to meet the surge in demands for direct aid and/or service delivery to affected populations, and to ensure that all population groups get the assistance they need. The overall long-term goal is helping Canadians by continuing to deliver services to people in need.
The purpose of this amendment is to extend the agreement date to March 31, 2026 and increase the Public Safety Canada funding amount from $5,598,208.00 to $7,494,198.79.
Public Safety Canada's (COV19) Supporting the Canadian Red Cross’s Urgent Relief Efforts Related to COVID-19, Floods and Wildfires program enable the CRC to support Canadians’ needs stemming from COVID-19, floods and wildfires. Through the provision of funding to the CRC under this program, the CRC will have the resources to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on Canadians as well as that of floods and wildfires.
