Description:
This project will leverage the Canadian Red Cross's existing capacity and provide support and service delivery gaps for the immediate and long-term to those affected by the Alberta 2024 wildfires. There will be a focus on the Municipality of Jasper and the surrounding communities as this is the area of greatest impact, but the project will still extend beyond Jasper.
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:

The immediate expected outcome of the project is to support relief to those affected by the Alberta 2024 wildfires by increasing the speed of recovery by ensuring resources are accessible through community organizations and supports and by improving the affected population’s ability to recover from the wildfires, including rebuilding and reconstruction of homes. The medium-term outcome is to increase the availability to mental health support services to those affected, with the overall long-term goal of increasing resilience at the household and community level by supporting impacted small businesses and increasing the speed of resumption and guarding against small business closure.
