Agreement Date:
Nov 4, 2024 - Mar 31, 2026
Description:
The SAR-Mesh project aims to improve the management and collaboration of search and rescue incidents by establishing a collaborative electronic coordination system supplemented by GPS radiotracers for live tracking of personnel in the search zone. The electronic coordination system enables geo-referenced situational information to be shared in real time and in a collaborative manner between the various search and rescue partners (police, fire service, volunteers and others).
Organization:
Public Safety Canada
Expected Results:
The expected outcomes of the project are to improve the effectiveness of search and rescue response and prevention. It will strengthen the coordination mechanism for a search and rescue operation by using a technological platform common to all partners to facilitate the sharing of live information. It will also increase the safety of personnel by taking advantage of live geolocation of teams to ensure a rapid response if an incident occurs. This functionality also increases operational efficiency by optimising the movement of personnel by taking into account their positions.
