Description:
This project will enhance community-based policing and improve the working relationship between Pikangikum First Nation and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The Community Safety Officers (CSOs) will enhance community safety and address low-risk responses to community concerns, including incidents stemming from social issues such as addictions and mental health. The CSOs act as liaisons between local community members and the OPP to ensure police response considers cultural considerations and language barriers.
